Minnesota is a waterfall lover’s paradise! All across the state, picturesque waterfalls tumble over rugged cliffs and rocky streams. They are some of the most scenic places in the entire state. Many are among the most visited, too. Places like Gooseberry Falls and Minnehaha Falls draw thousands of visitors each year. But Minnesota’s lesser-known waterfalls are also worth visiting. Today, we want to introduce a top-secret waterfall that most Minnesotans don’t even know about. Read on below to learn about how to visit Minnesota’s stunning Johnson Falls.
Johnson Falls is a small but beautiful waterfall in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northern Minnesota. For those who are able to make the trip, it is well worth the journey to get there.
Visitors to Johnson Falls should be prepared to spend the entire day in the wilderness of the Boundary Waters. There are a few routes to get there, all involving paddling.
There may also be portages along the way. As you trek through some of Minnesota's remote nature areas, you'll be surrounded by a lush forest filled with untouched foliage and wildlife.
The water tumbles over a short cliff into a rock-filled stream below. All around you, a canopy of trees shields from the sun. You will feel like you're in your own little oasis. And because not many people visit, you will likely have the waterfall all to yourself.
