In addition to the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnesota might as well also be called the Land of 10,000 Inventions. That’s because our state is full of them! From world-famous products such as Gold Medal Flour and SPAM to fun sports such as water skiing to favorite toys such as Tonka Trucks, Minnesotans have come up with some truly iconic inventions. (You can read about some favorite Minnesota products here and here.)
Today, we want to discuss one of our state’s most culinary inventions: the Juicy Lucy. These cheese-filled burgers are mouthwateringly delicious, and you can grab one of the best from a popular Minneapolis restaurant. Read on below to learn more about 5-8 Club and their outstanding Juicy Lucys.
5-8 Club is a popular restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Open since 1928, it’s a go-to spot for those looking for a great meal in a casual setting. There are several other locations throughout the Twin Cities as well, each worth visiting.
The menu has lots of great stuff to offer. You can’t go wrong with an app, and there are plenty of choices. Try nachos, pickle chips, cheese curds, chicken drummies, and other tasty options.
When it comes to your main entree, you’ll have your choice of many popular options. There’s a wide array of sandwiches, from a savory pulled pork sandwich to a classic Reuben, Philly, or club.
But of course, the reason many people come here is for the Juicy Lucy. As the story goes, the 5-8 Club invented the Juicy Lucy in the 1950s. It’s one of two Minneapolis restaurants (the other being Matt’s Bar) that claim to have invented it.
At 5-8 Club, there are half a dozen Juicy Lucy options, each as delicious as the last. They’re stuffed with gooey cheese that flows out when you take a bite.
The classic comes with your choice of American, cheddar, blue, pepper jack, or Swiss. Like the other burgers, it’s served with a pickle spear, coleslaw, and your choice of fries or carrot sticks.
Other Juicy Lucy choices include the PB&J, stuffed with peanut butter and American cheese, and the Saucy Sally, stuffed with American cheese and topped with secret sauce, lettuce, raw onions, and Thousand Island.
Spice lovers will enjoy the buffalo chicken Juicy Lucy, a ground chicken burger stuffed with pepper jack, tossed in bleu cheese, and topped with shredded lettuce and buffalo sauce. The Roadhouse Burger, filled with American cheese, and the Montana Jack, stuffed with bleu cheese, are also popular.
Have you ever had a 5-8 Club Juicy Lucy? For more information about the restaurant, including hours, locations, menus, and more, visit the 5-8 Club website and Facebook page.
