For more than four decades, the Twin Cities has played host to one of the largest Hmong celebrations in the country – which makes sense, because more Hmong people make their home in the Land of 10,000 Lakes than anywhere else in United States. And every year, on the weekend after Thanksgiving, folks gather in St. Paul to celebrate the Hmong New Year in Minnesota. This year, the dates for the Minnesota Hmong New Year celebration fall on November 25 and 26 for the 2023-2024.

Traditionally, Hmong New Year has less to do with the moon or the months and more to do with the seasons.
