Southern Minnesota is full of lovely natural attractions, from grasslands in the west to the Mississippi River along the eastern border. But there are more than a few great sights in between. One example? Whitewater State Park in the small town of Altura, about 30 minutes west of Winona. Whitewater is one of Minnesota’s most popular state parks, and for good reason. It’s a beautiful natural area with great water access and phenomenal views. Take a look:

The Coyote Point Trail is a popular - though somewhat strenuous - trail. A series of switchbacks make it a two or three hour hike.
