In the Land of 10,000 Lakes, going up to the cabin is a way of life. While some are lucky enough to own their weekend getaway, there is something to be said for trying new cabin stays all across the state. There are hundreds to choose from, whether you enjoy lakeside oases or riverside bungalows. Today, we want to share a beautiful forest cabin way up in northern Minnesota. This peaceful spot would make a wonderful weekend getaway to rest and recharge. Best of all, it’s less than $100 a night to enjoy all that this little spot has to offer. Here’s what you’ll find when you visit:
Mokki: Hovland Hut is a gorgeous, rustic cabin in the woods in northern Minnesota. It's in Hovland, Minnesota, a small community about 20 miles north of Grand Marais. Though it would be a long drive for most Minnesotans, this cabin has a lot to offer.
First and foremost, the natural surroundings are absolutely beautiful. You can visit any time of the year, though many especially love the fall. The cabin is in the Spring Beauty Northern Hardwoods SNA, a maple tree forest that has beautiful changing leaves in the fall.
Inside, you'll find a simple cabin with just about everything you need to enjoy your stay. The cabin is furnished with chairs, a bed, and a small table.
There's a simple kitchen area with a gas cooktop. There is no running water or electricity, so you will need to bring your own supplies. Like any Airbnb, you'll also have to bring your own food and drink.
The bed is simple but comfortable. Be aware that you'll need to bring your own blankets and pillows. This stay is a lot like camping, though much more comfortable than staying in a tent.
There are a few other parts of this stay to be aware of. First, there is no running water. That means the bathroom is an outhouse that is detached from the main cabin.
If you’re interested in a rustic stay that has plenty of peace, quiet, and relaxation on offer, this forest cabin might just be what you’re looking for.
