All in all, Minnesotans are a friendly bunch. We’re even famous for our niceness. But that doesn’t mean we never get upset. Even the most mild-tempered Minnesotans get angry sometimes. Best not to repeat the following things around a Minnesotan, unless you want to see the opposite of Minnesota Nice:

First of all, not every Minnesotan speaks in elongated Os and uff das. But even if we did, surely there are more interesting things to comment on. Like the fact that our state ranks in the top ten for both quality of life and life expectancy, to name a few! Poke fun at our accents all you want, but we'll be ready to remind you just why our state is #1.

There are many great foods throughout the state, but tater tot hot dish might just be the unofficial state food of Minnesota. It's the go-to dish to bring to any potluck, and it's found on many holiday tables. Out-of-towners may not understand the appeal, but we sure won't let them get away without at least trying it.

We know that other states have great fairs. But Minnesota's fair is hands-down the best. By daily attendance, it is the largest state fair in the United States. And thanks to the lively midway, fun concerts, and delicious foods, it's the most fun - at least in our book!

For years, Wisconsinites have tried to suggest that the Badger State has more lakes than Minnesota. But the two states count their lakes different. Wisconsin considered any body of water more than 2.2 acres to be a lake, while Minnesota requires lakes to be 10 acres or more. If Wisconsin counted its lakes like Minnesota, they would have just over 5,300 lakes. And if Minnesota counted like Wisconsin, we'd have thousands more than the 10,000 we claim.

Listen, we know. It's the curse of being a Minnesotan that our teams always let us down. But we still have hope that one day things will turn around. While we wait, we don't need anyone else to tell us what we already know!
