Christmas in 2017 is fun, but do you ever miss the celebrations of years gone by? If you’re feeling nostalgic this year, you might want to head out to Dakota City Heritage Village in Farmington, Minnesota. Every year, this historic village gets decked out in Christmas lights and welcomes people for a night of holiday festivities. As we get further and further from the simpler lives people once lived villages like this one, Dakota City’s Christmas in the Village event gets even more magical year after year. Dakota City Heritage Village is a five-acre village dating back to 1900. You'll find it at 4008 220th Street West in Farmington, Minnesota.
Many of the buildings have festive decorations on the inside, too. Christmas trees trimmed with historic ornaments add even more nostalgia to this Christmas village.
In 2017, Christmas in the Village will take place during the first two weekends of December. Visit on December 2, 3, 9, and 10. The hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on each of those days.Entrance to Christmas in the Village costs $4 for ages 3-12, and $7 for those 13 and up. Kids younger than 3 get in for free.
