Summer may be starting to wind down here in Minnesota, but there’s still plenty of time to squeeze in a few more activities. If you’re looking for a nice day in a charming setting, look no further than Zumbrota, Minnesota. This small town is packed with fun, making it the ideal Minnesota road trip destination in this last month of summer.
Zumbrota is located in Goodhue County in southeastern Minnesota. It has a population of about 3,400.
Much of southeastern Minnesota is rural, notable for its lovely farm fields. Your drive into the area is sure to be scenic, especially if you choose to visit on a sunny day.
When you enter town, you'll first notice the quaint downtown area. Its streets are lined with historic buildings, which house local businesses. There is a classic small-town vibe that'll make you feel right at home.
In addition to shopping and restaurants, Zumbrota is home to many facilities that will bring summer fun. One of the most popular is the public swimming pool, but there are local parks and trails as well.
Definitely the most well-known activity in Zumbrota is visiting Covered Bridge Park. This park houses the last functioning covered bridge in Minnesota. It dates back to 1869.
If you follow the trail long enough, you'll meet lovely views of the surrounding landscape, including the Zumbro River as it winds its way across southeastern Minnesota.
