Summer has finally arrived in Minnesota – and it’s hitting the state with full force. Hot, humid weather is here to stay for the next several months. Instead of hiding away in the air conditioning, it’s time to make the most of it! One of the best ways is by going on a river tubing day trip. It’ll allow you to get some sun, enjoy the outdoors, and cool off in the refreshing waters of one of Minnesota’s beautiful rivers. Welch Mill Canoeing & Tubing is a wonderful outfitter in Welch, Minnesota. It's about 50 miles south of the Twin Cities, making it an excellent day trip destination for many Minnesotans.
Welch Mill has everything you need to have a fun and safe day on the river. You can rent a tube for yourself and another for your cooler. There's a shuttle bus that will drop you off at the river's entry point.
After your trip is done, the same shuttle will pick you up at Welch Landing. There are signs on the river, so you won't miss it. All you have to do is enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and refreshing water!
Speaking of water, the Cannon River is one of the prettiest nature areas in southern Minnesota. It flows 112 miles through rolling hills, thick forests, and grassy fields. You'll be able to see a little bit of everything on your journey.
Depending on the water level, rides typically last a couple of hours. Tubes are $15 to rent on weekends. You can bring a cooler with drinks, but no glass or styrofoam is allowed on the river.
