As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
The vibrant Lowertown neighborhood, near the commercial center of Minnesota’s capital city is, by itself, worthy of a weekend’s worth of exploration. Come see what this community has to offer, then settle in for the night at the quirky Celeste of St. Paul, which we think is the best hotel near Lowertown in St. Paul, Minnesota (and one of the most unique hotels in Minnesota).
The Lowertown neighborhood is the easternmost part of St. Paul's downtown commercial district.
Start with the St. Paul Farmers Market, which has been a focal point in this part of town for years. In the summer, especially, you'll find a wide range of vendors selling everything from vegetables and honey to meat and textiles. (You can also get coffee there!)

Always check out Union Depot, St. Paul's historic train station on the banks of the Mississippi River.
There are usually events taking place, like yoga, food trucks, or vendors' stands to explore. During the holidays, the depot hosts Lowertown's European Christmas Market. Visit
Union Depot on the web to find out what's happening when you're there - or just walk over and see for yourself. The historic building, alone, is worth a visit. And yes... you can even catch a train here!

Lowertown is also the home of beautiful CHS Field.
CHS Field, 360 N Broadway St, St Paul, MN 55101, USA
It's the home of the scrappy St. Paul Saints baseball club, which spent years as an independent team before becoming a farm club for the Minnesota Twins. Saints games are famously irreverent and a blast to attend. In addition to Saints games (and fireworks displays after many games), CHS Field hosts several other events throughout the year, such as concerts, outdoor movies, and holiday light displays.
Lowertown is also a hotspot for all manner of artists - many of whom live and work in the neighborhood.
Calendula Gallery, 275 4th St E Suite 130, St Paul, MN 55101, USA
Be sure to take some time to check out the many boutiques and galleries clustered in this part of the city, like the eclectic Calendula Gallery. It's right across the street from the farmers market and a block from CHS Field. It showcases the works of several rotating artists on its gallery walls, so every visit is a different experience. Check the open house hours before you go.
Famous for it's upscale lowbrow food, like its burger and fried bologna sandwich, Saint Dinette is the perfect place to top off your funky Lowertown day before heading to your hotel.
Your hotel is only a few blocks from Lowertown, located in a beaux arts building that was a former convent and, later, a music and art conservatory.
Lowertown St. Paul is an awesome destination any time of year, and we think Celeste of St. Paul is the perfect place to stay when you visit! Head over to the property’s Hotels.com listing for more information or to make reservations.
