Here in Minnesota, it’s almost impossible to be bored. If you find yourself with nothing to do, there’s a whole slew of great places to visit that you’ve probably never seen before. Why not start with taking a visit to each of Minnesota’s seven wonders? This seven wonders road trip — about 250 miles in total — will be one of the most unforgettable things you do all year. Just a few miles outside of Duluth, Jay Cooke State Park might just be the gateway to the North Shore. This 8,125-acre state park is home to the lower reaches of the St. Louis River, which rushes through a 13-mile gorge. This rugged park is a must-see in northern Minnesota, making it a perfect first stop on this seven wonders road trip.

Gooseberry Falls is probably the most visited waterfall in all of Minnesota — and deservedly so. The stunning waterfall is also easily accessible. A short paved pathway will lead you to all the stunning tiers of water.

Ask any Minnesotan to identify a photo of Split Rock Lighthouse, and nearly everyone would know exactly what it was. This iconic spot is beautiful both close up and from afar. Visit the lighthouse itself for a historic look at Lake Superior, with beautiful views of the lake from high up. And gaze upon the lighthouse from afar to take in the rocky cliff on which it stands. Either way, this Minnesota wonder is a must-see.

While Black Beach may not be a state or national park, it is still one of the prettiest — and most unique — spots in Minnesota. This natural wonder is the only black beach in the state. This wonder of Minnesota is simply breathtaking.
Our next and final stop on the seven wonders road trip is way, way up in northern Minnesota. Voyageurs National Park is Minnesota's only national park, and it's well worth a visit. The main access to Voyageurs is by water, so you'll need a boat to visit. But if you can manage that, you'll be blown away by the rugged, spectacular beauty of this northern park. Amazing fishing, camping, and wildlife await anyone who takes the trouble to visit.
