We love our small towns in Michigan, and there are so many popular ones to choose from like Saugatuck and Frankenmuth. But if you’re looking for an unassuming and lesser-known small town that’s perfect for a weekend getaway, try out Blissfield, Michigan. You can eat some tasty Coney dogs, stay at a historic inn, and see a show at the oldest theater in the Mitten State.
Downtown Blissfield was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015, and we can see why. You’ll find great shopping and antiquing inside these beautiful Italianate, Late Victorian, and Arts and Crafts-style buildings.
This restaurant serves delicious comfort food such as coney dogs, fried chicken, burgers, gyros, and mac and cheese in generous portions. Blissfield Coney Island is so good we added it to the Michigan Coney Island Road Trip.
The goal of the winery is to make everyone feel comfortable at all levels of wine tasting. Whether you’re well-versed in wine or a beginner, you’ll love stopping at Flying Otter for a refreshing drink.
