That’s why today’s adventure takes us to an underrated state park in Michigan where you can spend time on and near the water — it’s the perfect family-friendly day trip destination.
Wilson State Park is located at the north end of Budd Lake in Clare County. This area has a rich history and actually goes back to the late 1800s when it was the original site of the Wilson Brothers Sawmill and Company Store.
Today, this is an underrated state park that is a wonderful destination for a day trip. It features 36 acres of wooded forest that is just waiting to be explored.
And if you want to turn your day trip into an overnight adventure, there is a campground at this state park, perfect for some time away and near some of Mother Nature’s greatest creations.
If you don’t want to stay in the campground but want to stay someplace a little more like home, consider booking a stay in the modern lodge that can comfortably sleep up to six guests.
