Having grown up in Washington, Andrea is a self-admitted Pacific Northwest snob. In their opinion, there's simply nowhere else in the country with the Evergreen State's beauty. After attending university, Andrea devoted themselves to writing full-time. They're thrilled to represent Washington for Only In Your State while pursuing other professional and personal projects. They currently reside in Olympia, where they enjoy leaf-blowing their yard, perfecting homemade ramen, cuddling with their three tiny dogs, and feeding their pufferfish, Sea Biscuit.
The busier life is, the more important it is to remind ourselves what’s fun about being an adult. If you’re planning a night out with someone special, few dining experiences feel more indulgent than a visit to The Habitat, which perfectly encapsulates what’s best about being all grown up. With its mouth-watering menu and atmospheric live music, this swanky spot may be the best date night restaurant in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Located in Weber's Boutique Hotel, an equally upscale accommodation that's walking distance from the stunning Dolph Nature Reserve and just a ten-minute drive to downtown, The Habitat is a jazz club with a fantastic dinner service.
Habitat's interior is unapologetically chic, with sleek modern furnishings warmed up by pools of delicious red light. It's an environment that encourages you to lean towards your date across the table or trade lingering looks while the band completes their set.
But don't overlook the food just because a good song's playing. Habitat warrants a return visit on the merits of its menu alone. Though you can certainly opt for pub staples— including a mean burger and a formidable plate of fish and chips— I recommend their duck or one of their mouth-watering steaks.
If you're up for it, follow your sweet tooth. You can even arrive with just dessert in mind! Though Habitat's fare is priced incredibly well, limiting yourself to drinks and afters is a wallet-conscious alternative to a full meal that doesn't feel "budget."
Whatever your dining adventure, libations are mandatory. The Habitat has an extensive drinks menu, ranging from espresso to top-notch wines. A talented crew of mixologists prepare cocktails that can be ordered sans alcohol, should you prefer.
With the lilt of music, the warm color scheme, and the buzz of happy conversation, Habitat leaves you wondering why more restaurants don't opt for a similar model. It evokes an ambiance of consummate adult sophistication, ideal for a date to impress, even if the date is solo and the person you wish to impress is yourself.
