Wondering what there is to do in Michigan this summer (especially if you’re a fan of the great outdoors)? No worries – I’ve got you covered. I went on a hunt for the best, most interesting places in Michigan, and I came across this fascinating, beautiful, and otherwise awe-inspiring little place that often goes unnoticed by folks who don’t live here already. It’s pretty away-from-it-all, too, just in case you were wondering; it’s the amazing Keweenaw Peninsula, and it might just be the most beautiful, relatively remote place in Michigan.

There are so many things to do and see here that you could easily turn it into a more-than-one-day trip (I suggest at least a weekend).
First and foremost - and perhaps most obviously - the stunningly clean, clear waters of Lake Superior offer lots of recreation opportunities.

If you'd like to get up close and personal with it, I strongly recommend a trip to Isle Royale National Park, which is an amazing representation of the beauty of the region.
Even outside the boundaries of the park, Lake Superior whispers that you can come closer.

The peninsula is popular among boaters, fishermen, and other water-loving folks. It's pretty obvious to see why; the water here is perfect, ensuring an idyllic day no matter what.

You can easily do this by visiting the Keweenaw National Historic Park in Calumet, which offers a front-row look at local history.
The entire peninsula is outrageously photogenic, and I think you'll love all the little landmarks you'll encounter during your journey.

If you're a lover of lighthouses, you'll be thrilled to learn that there are eight of them peppered throughout the region.
Hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, and other activities make up the long list of things you ought to do while you're here.

I personally prefer a nice day of hiking and then dipping my weary feet in the always-chilly water of Lake Superior, but your mileage may vary (and so might your interests).
Overall, the Keweenaw Peninsula is an amazing place that's absolutely worthy of a trip.
