Do you have a local restaurant in the Great Lake State that you would be heartbroken about if it closed? This sad story was about to happen at an incredibly popular restaurant in Chelsea, Michigan. There is often a wait to get in, but reservations were booked solid once the closing was announced. But a new owner came to the rescue and now you can eat here too.
The Common Grill is located in Southeast Michigan in the small town of Chelsea.
A popular spot for a first date, anniversary celebration, or even to pop the question, many residents of Chelsea save their special occasions for this local favorite.
The Common Grill was named after the owner Craig Common who planned to retire and close the place down. The restaurant has always been a hot spot but when the closing was announced, all the reservations were booked up quickly. Regulars were devastated until someone purchased the business in 2022.
The new business owner has kept the same name and staff while building on the well-loved menu. Thankfully, the modern American bistro is here to stay and feed many more hungry patrons. Reservations are still encouraged.
Arrive with your sweetheart and enjoy a happy hour of specialty cocktails like a pomegranate gimlet, a grapefruit martini, and a spiced pear manhattan.
Enjoy enticing dishes such as bouillabaisse, goat cheese ravioli, Lake Superior whitefish, and more. The dessert menu is to die for warm chocolate croissant bread pudding, cherry cobbler, and butterscotch pudding.
Stop in for Saturday or Sunday brunch and enjoy tasty chicken and waffles. The food and drinks at this incredible small town spot will be worth the wait.
