It’s not every day that we Michiganders get to experience pure magic. After all, many of us are so wrapped up in our day-to-day lives that we might just miss the whimsical destinations hidden in plain sight. There’s one incredible spot here in the Great Lakes State that will force you to slow down, reflect, and bask in beauty and peace. Get ready for a breathtaking experience.
Pleasant Hill Farm is located at 5859 124th Ave in Fennville.
This lovely blueberry farm is owned and operated by local farmers Joan Donaldson and John Van Voorhees. For 2020, they’ve expanded the reach of their farm beyond fruit alone.
This year, Donaldson and Van Voorhees invite visitors to explore an enchanting field of flowers that was planted in honor of their late son, Mateo, and friend Analilia Salinas.
The gorgeous field consists of four acres and thousands upon thousands of poppies, which dot the landscape in hues of red, pink, and blue. Talk about stunning.
Park at nearby Fennville Cemetery and be sure not to walk atop the flowers. As you immerse yourself in this one-of-a-kind atmosphere, you’ll surely feel a sense of magic.
Donaldson and Van Voorhees hope that the field’s simple yet striking beauty will help soothe those who are experiencing mental health difficulties or other personal struggles.
Bring along your camera if you choose to stop by - and be sure to schedule a visit before the arrival of July, as the blooming poppy field is currently experiencing its peak.
When you’re searching for a marvelous way to get outside and appreciate the beauty of Michigan’s countryside, this vibrant field is sure to capture your heart.
