This Epic Mountain In Michigan Will Drop Your Jaw

Losing yourself in the fresh mountain air can be so rejuvenating. It gives you a perspective that you simply can’t find when you’re rushing around in the city. It has to do with the pristine views. The time alone on a trail or a campground to gather your thoughts. Michigan isn’t especially known as a mountainous place, but we are blessed with at least one such magical destination: the Porcupine Mountains in the Ontonagon area of the Upper Peninsula.

There are so many reasons why this is a prime destination for hikers, campers, and photographers alike. Hikers can enjoy some 87 miles of hiking paths to explore. The Porcupine Mountains State Park offers ample camping opportunities. And the best part is, you don’t have to leave the state for all this.

With an elevation of 1,958 feet, the view from Summit Peak will provide you with incredible vistas as far as Wisconsin and Minnesota (on clear days).
