IllumiZoo Wild Hues Is Coming To John Ball Zoo In Michigan

It’s never too early to start making your plans for the upcoming autumn months. Michigan offers a seemingly endless array of attractions and events for the entire family to enjoy, whether you’re a nature enthusiast or more enamored with man-made destinations. One delightful gathering at a popular zoo in the Great Lakes State is back this year with a new theme, so be sure to mark your calendar.

John Ball Zoo is located at 1300 Fulton St W in Grand Rapids.

For West Michigan locals and out-of-town visitors alike, this spectacular zoo has long offered excitement and education. In fact, the zoo first opened its doors all the way back in 1891 - talk about history.

With 140 acres and upwards of 2,000 amazing animals to admire, John Ball has no shortage of fun. No matter when you stop by, you’ll find opportunities to expand your horizons and spot cute creatures.

In recent years, guests have raved about the unique IllumiZoo experience, which brings the entire park to life with brilliant lights, colorful exhibits, and opportunities for zoo education after hours.

For the 2021 season, IllumiZoo’s theme is Wild Hues. In addition to its obvious reference to colors, the theme pays homage to the endless “hues” of species that make the animal kingdom unique.

This year’s IllumiZoo experience will happen every Wednesday through Sunday from September 3 to November 14. Times vary, but the event is slated for evenings to add after-dark charm.

Adults over the age of 12 are admitted for $20, while guests 3-12 years of age are admitted for only $13. As you stroll through, you’ll be swept away into an enchanting realm of wildlife and ethereal beauty.
