While our Midwest friend, Minnesota, may be known as the State of Hockey, here in Michigan, you’ll find several incredible ice rinks — from seasonal outdoor rinks to massive indoor ice rinks. And while ice skating may typically be seen as a winter-only activity, visiting the largest indoor ice rink complex in Michigan is sure to keep you cool all summer long.
Located in Fraser, Michigan is one of the state’s largest ice rinks, Fraser Hockeyland. Measuring in at a whopping 20,000 square feet, this ice center and entertainment venue is home to five rinks for hockey, figure skating, inline skating, camps, clinics, private lessons, leagues, and special events.
The largest ice rink has a capacity of 3,400 and is currently home to the Metro Jets Hockey Association, as well as the Fraser Figure Skating Club, Michigan Athletic Training, the Michigan Sports Enterprise adult hockey, and nearly a dozen high school teams.
Fraser Hockeyland also provides opportunities to play hockey without the commitment of joining a team with open drop-in hockey sessions for adults and children alike.
But you don’t have to play hockey or be a figure skater to enjoy this massive ice rink! Open skating is available daily, with admission costing just $5 per each one hour and 20-minute session. Both hockey and figure skates are available to rent in toddler to adult sizes for an additional $3. Exact dates and times for open skating can be found on their website.
Whether you want to brush up on your skating skills, teach your children how to skate for the first time, or just cool off on a hot summer day, Fraser Hockeyland is the perfect destination for a family outing.
This incredible ice rink also offers birthday party packages, which include one hour of ice time, two and a half hours of party room time, and skate rentals for adults and kids, as well as pizza, pop, plates, and utensils. Talk about a cool celebration!
