Though there may not be mountains to climb or trails to explore, Detroit does have one easy hike that you defintely know about and it’s right in the busy downtown area. Check out this hike in the city that will lead you someplace unforgettable.

It may sound silly to call the Detriot International Riverfront a hike, but if you walked the five-and-a-half miles that make up the riverfront, it definitely would seem like a hike! Located right in the downtown area, the riverfront is gorgeous and a fantastic spot to see the city's skyscrapers, Belle Isle and even Windsor, Canada!

The riverfront runs from the Ambassador Bridge, located on the west, all the way to the eastern-located Belle Isle. It is a great walk, espeically in the evening, when you can see the skyscrapers light up and the gleaming lights of Windsor right across the Detroit River.

Find some quiet time by taking an early morning "hike." Over five miles make up the riverfront and you'll get to breathe in the fresh air and listen to the sounds of the river.

Walking along the riverfront, you'll get to see Detroit's iconic skyscrapers including the GM Renaissance Center.

A sculpture along the riverfront is dedicated to Detroit and the State of Michigan's Underground Railroad System. On the monument stands nine slaves and a conductor looking and pointing at Canada to board a boat to safety.

There are no better views of Detroit than walking along the Detroit Riverfront. The area also includes the Milliken State Park and Harbor, the state's first park placed in an urban area.

The best views of the Ford Fireworks are at the Detroit International Riverfront. They are considered to be one of the world's largest fireworks displays!
