Just because we live in a big city, doesn’t mean we don’t have a few enchanting and magical places that would make anyone feel like they’ve walked into a fairy tale. From charming buildings to lovely parks, Detroit has its fair share of places and things that will make you believe that magic still exists in the city.
1. Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory
This beautiful conservatory on Belle Isle is divided into five sections of gorgeous flowers, tropical trees, cacti, succulents and other rare floral. It is a great escape from the city.
2. Detroit Skyline
The Detroit skyline with its towering skyscrapers and buildings really seems like a beautiful work of art.
3. Edsel and Eleanor Ford House
This spectacular mansion belonged to Henry Ford's son, Edsel and his wife, Eleanor Ford. It's hard to believe this wonderful place with its magical gardens is real.
4. Greenfield Village
You'll feel like you've gone back in time at Greenfield Village where you can ride in a Model T, walk through working farms, and step foot in buildings from the 17th century.
5. Cranbrook Gardens
Cranbrook Gardens is a short 30-minute drive from Detroit and well worth it. Walking through the gardens will make you feel like you're in a dream.
6. Eighth Precinct Police Station
The French Renaissance Châteauesque station that use to be a police station is truly jaw dropping.
7. Fox Theatre
The Fox Theatre is Detroit's crown jewel and its interior is spectacular. You must see a show here to experience its true classic beauty.
8. Sunset Point on Belle Isle
See the most amazing views of the sun setting over the city, the Ambassador Bridge, the Renaissance Center and a slice of Windsor, Canada on the west end of Belle Isle. It's truly a magical experience.
9. Campus Martius Park at Christmas Time
Campus Martius Park comes alive every Christmas time and it's a must see for every Detroiter.
10. The Whitney
This beautiful mansion-turned-eatery is fascinating inside and out. It is a gorgeous gem in Detroit that literally looks like it came out of a fairy tale.
