Are you in the mood to be completely spooked? Well, you’ve definitely clicked on the right article. There’s an abandoned psychiatric facility not far from the Motor City that will give you the creeps, and we’ve got the spine-tingling pictures to prove it.
The infamous Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital is located at 41001 West Seven Mile Road in the Detroit suburb of Northville.
The facility was fully operational from its opening in 1952 until 2003, when it closed its doors for good. Much of the building’s interior was simply left to rot.
Of course, trespassing is illegal, so we don’t recommend that you enter the grounds on your own. Instead, have a look at these photos and take a virtual tour of the long-abandoned hospital.
The building is littered with remnants of what once existed there — everything from wheelchairs to patients’ records to broken glass litter the floors.
A step into the abandoned auditorium is especially eerie. One can almost imagine the speeches, performances, and other events that took place on this now-crumbling stage.
While Northville Psychiatric Hospital certainly did a great deal of good for the mentally ill population during its years of operation, there’s something undeniably chilling about seeing it in such a sad and forgotten state.
This once-crowded building now sits in ruin, with only the ghosts of its storied past left to occupy the halls and keep watch over the hospital corridors.
