There’s nothing better than a walk down memory lane. For those of us who grew up in the Motor City, there’s something comforting about peering back at earlier years in Metro Detroit. Whether we’re drawing inspiration from challenges we’ve overcome or remembering fun times with loved ones, nothing beats the experience of perusing vintage photos from times long-gone.
1. Greektown has long served as a popular hangout for fun-loving Detroiters, not to mention a hub for delicious fare. This photo captures the streets of Greektown as they appeared back in 1984.
2. It’s no secret that cars have played an important role in the history of Detroit. This shot from the spring of 1969 captures a race at Detroit Dragway in Brownstown. You can almost feel the excitement!
3. The streets of Detroit have always been home to events, festivals, and other gatherings. This capture from July 1980 shows crowds of attendees exploring the Motor City during a political convention.

7. Sports are at the very core of many Detroiters’ lives and fondest memories. If you love the Tigers, you surely remember attending games at Tiger Stadium - and scenes like this one from 1999.
