It’s almost impossible to deny the delights of Charlevoix, a waterfront town that impresses both locals and visitors alike all throughout the year. For those who like spending wintertime appreciating the outdoors, this lovely spot offers easy access to winter sporting destinations like Mt. McSauba, Boyne Mountain, and Shanty Creek. Of course, if you’re more of a homebody, you can simply spend your time curled up with a hot cup of tea and a good book at the Charlevoix House or Bridge Street Inn.
If you find yourself in the Upper Peninsula when temperatures have dropped, venture to Ironwood for a charming and authentic small town experience. Situated approximately 18 miles from the shores of icy Lake Superior, the town provides a quiet and calm place to get away from your day-to-day stresses. We couldn’t round out a list of top winter towns in Michigan without including Frankenmuth, which remains a favorite among Michiganders of all ages.
