But there is one destination in Michigan that boasts the bluest water you’ll see anywhere in the Mitten State: Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It’s certainly a well-loved favorite, but it never fails to stun with its gorgeous natural scenery.
A visit to Sleeping Bear Dunes will allow you to experience all sorts of terrain. You’ll shuffle through sand, trek along shady forest paths, and drive down scenic roads as you explore everything the park has to offer.

Check out one of many lookout points, including Log Slide or Pyramid Point. Climb a dune that towers far above the coastline and let yourself be amazed by the hues of turquoise and cerulean that swirl in the lake below.
At the Lake Michigan Overlook, you can even venture down the 450-foot dune to experience the cool waves firsthand. Immerse yourself in the refreshing blue water — but be prepared for a strenuous walk back up to the lookout.
