There’s something about Michigan that stands out against the rest of the states. What is it exactly? We think we have a few clues about what makes the Mitten better than the rest.
How about you take a look as to why?
1. Boats
Yes, boats. Michigan is home to the highest number of boat registrants in the country.
2. First Meal
Michigan is the Cereal Capital of the World, thanks to the founding of Kellogg's cereal.
3. Football
We obviously have some serious football talent - no matter what the official score may be.
4. Growing stuff
We're second only to California in agriculture. So... yeah, we've got the farm-to-table game on point.
5. Home to the Magic Capital of the World
Because... Magic. Duh
6. Lighthouses
Michigan is home to the most lighthouses in the country.
7. Loyalty
Nothing beats the loyalty of a Michigander. NOTHING.
8. Making things
Yeah, we kinda make things here. Things like cars and such.
9. Education
Michigan is home to the University of Michigan, the first university founded in the country in 1817.
Also, Michigan State University
MSU became the first land grant university in the nation... And it's basically set the standard in public higher education.
10. Shoreline
Michigan's shoreline is only second to Alaska's.
11. Soda Pop
We all drink pop, right? Pop as we know it here in the United States was created here in Michigan, with the advent of Vernor's.
So what, am I right or what? Tell us, what do you think makes us stand out against the rest?
