Have you ever found a lovely piece of colorful beach glass in the Great Lake State? While we may not have shores filled with rocks and glass, you can still find beautiful and artistic pieces here and there. If you’re on the hunt for some glass to admire, visit this state park for beach glass in Stevensville, Michigan.
Grand Mere State Park is located on Lake Michigan in Southwest Michigan, about an hour's drive west of Kalamazoo.
Grand Mere State Park beach is a secluded and hidden beach that few tourists know about. There is a short 1-mile hike through the forest and over sand dunes which keeps the beach nice and private.
Beach glass is most commonly found in the spring or fall due to the direction of the tides. Another great time to visit is towards the end of winter when the snow melts, then months' worth of debris has washed up on the shore and been left undisturbed.
The best way to spot beach glass is to find collections of pebbles that the waves have pushed to shore. Comb through these rocky areas to find beautiful beach glass.
Take your time and walk up and down the beach as far as you can go, the less populated the area the more likely you will find beach glass. Happy hunting!
