The new Massachusetts Whale Trail will take you around the state to 40 whale-themed sights and excursions. It was debuted this summer by the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and is based around an online map. The trip will take you to cool spots like old whalers’ taverns, interesting maritime museums, and of course, the sea.

The trail can be tackled in any season, but most people will probably prefer to set off in the warm summer months. Taking this self-guided tour of the state will bring you to the whaling city of New Bedford and their incredible whaling museum, which is packed with trinkets like harpoons, scrimshaw, and even massive whale skeletons.
