I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Since 1716, Longfellow’s Wayside Inn has been welcoming overnight guests. Today, it is the oldest operating inn in the country and has landed the distinction as a Massachusetts Historic Landmark and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While you can always spend the night at this historic inn, you don’t have to in order to have a meal at the restaurant. If you enjoy dining at historic restaurants, make a reservation for breakfast, lunch, or dinner here at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn.
With over a 300-year history, Longfellow's Wayside Inn is the oldest continuously operating inn in the United States. Since 1716, it has provided food, beverages, and a place to stay to guests. Having a meal in one of the 10 historic dining rooms is like stepping back in time. Dine on classic New England dishes in a cozy, charming atmosphere that can only be found at the Wayside Inn.
The menu is filled with timeless homemade dishes like prime rib of beef au jus, filet mignon, meatloaf, and cranberry and cornbread stuffed chicken breast.
Of course, seafood dishes are abundant on the menu as well. From salmon dijonnaise to broiled sea scallops, baked scrod, a New England lobster roll, and more, you'll have an incredible meal.
Longfellow's Wayside Inn is proud to uphold some of the traditional foods and beverages from the Colonial era. One drink to order is The Coow Woow which is said to be the country's first-ever mixed drink dating back to 1664. It's made with white rum and ginger brandy, a perfect cocktail to enjoy before dinner.
You absolutely must save room for dessert. Its famous Homemade Indian Pudding served with a side of vanilla ice cream is a classic treat served at Longfellow's Wayside Inn.
