What could be more fun and relaxing than spending a summer’s day in a beautiful seaside town? While there are many gorgeous areas to visit in Massachusetts, the town of Rockport definitely tops the list. This historic area has it all! From beautiful beaches to great shopping to fresh seafood, Rockport makes a perfect day trip destination or coastal road trip stop.
Rockport is located at the very top of Cape Ann, about an hour's drive northeast of Boston.
The Essex Coastal Scenic Byway will take you through several quaint towns with beautiful scenery. You can also travel to Rockport via the commuter rail train. Rockport is bordered by water on three sides, so the views are amazing no matter where you are in town.
Halibut Point is a gorgeous place to go for a hike. This state park was once a granite quarry.
