I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
If you’ve ever visited the island of Nantucket, you know how special it is. With its serene beauty, a slower pace of life, cobblestone streets, historic homes, and more, there’s an air of charm here that can’t be felt anywhere else. So, make plans to visit the small town of Nantucket, Massachusetts soon and you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported back in time.
The word charming doesn't even begin to exemplify all that Nantucket is as a town and why people visit in droves year after year.
Between its location off the coast of Massachusetts, its historical buildings, natural beauty, beaches, and downtown, it's no wonder why it's a popular vacation destination come summertime.
The island was first settled in 1659 and there's a true sense of history here especially, when walking down the cobblestone streets and seeing all of the preserved houses and buildings, some of which date back to the mid-1700s.
One of the most iconic sites in Nantucket's downtown is the Main Street Fountain. This public fountain was originally installed in the 1880s. Today, you can find the historic fountain filled with flowers or other seasonal decor.
Among the mix of cafes, galleries, restaurants, and shops is an old-fashioned fudge shop you must try while you're in town. Aunt Leah's Fudge was opened by a former school teacher, Leah, who creates and makes the fudge flavors you see in the shop.
While this fudge shop isn't historic, it has an old-fashioned feel, delicious treats, and friendly service. This is certainly a must-visit stop on the island!
