I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
One of the best parts of a road trip or a scenic drive is the snacks you bring to enjoy along the way. And one of the best road trip snacks you can get is candy! So if you’re in the mood to grab some snacks and take a scenic drive in Massachusetts, we suggest a stop at Thibault’s Country Store in Spencer and a drive along State Route 31.
Located in the town of Spencer is a charming country store that's worth a stop, especially if you're traveling along Route 31 which runs through town.
Thibault's Country Store is an old-fashioned throwback that will set you hurtling back to a simpler time. And it's a great place to stop if you're looking for some sweet road trip snacks!
Load up on old-fashioned penny candies -- there are so many to choose from so why not fill up a bag with a variety? There are also plenty of chocolates you'll love too. Get that sugar rush going as you hit the road!
Take a drive through the country on Route 31 which runs between the town of Dudley to Ashby. It runs nearly 60 miles between the southern and northern borders of Massachusetts. There are several scenic towns and landscapes you'll drive through along this route.
Off of Route 31, you can stop by Spencer State Forest before or after you pick up your road trip snacks from Thibault's Country Store. Here you can get out of your car, stretch your legs, and go for a hike.
Traveling along Route 31 in Spencer alone is absolutely scenic but it's also fun to continue on to other towns like Paxton, Dudley, Charlton, Holden, Princeton, and Westminster. So, sit back, enjoy the drive (and your snacks) and take in all the beauty that the state has to offer along this route.
