At over 16,500 acres, the largest state park in Massachusetts happens to be October Mountain. With all it has to offer, you could easily spend weeks there and not experience all of it. But what about the smallest state park? Well, at three acres, Roxbury Heritage State Park may just be the smallest state park in Massachusetts. But while it is tiny, it is still worth exploring.
You can find Roxbury Heritage State Park on Roxbury Street in Boston. At only three acres in size, it may be considered the smallest state park in Massachusetts.

Roxbury Heritage State Park is home to the Dillaway-Thomas House. Built back in 1750, this house became the headquarters for the Continental Army in 1775. Today, it is one of the oldest buildings in Roxbury.
Stroll the landscaped grounds and take in the views of the Boston city skyline. There are even benches around the property where you can sit and stay for a while.
The grounds of Roxbury Heritage State Park, the smallest state park in Massachusetts, are open from 9 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. daily. If you haven't yet been to this park, it's quite a hidden gem that's worth a visit.
