Are you looking to get outside and stretch your legs? This beautiful trail near Boston is the perfect way for Bay Staters along the eastern coast to experience the great outdoors.
The Skyline Trail features gorgeous mountain views. Here’s what you need to know about this adventure.
The Skyline Trail through the Blue Hills Reservation is one of the prettiest hikes in Massachusetts. It offers unbeatable vistas and just enough challenge to keep things interesting.
To be clear, this trail doesn’t require you to trek through all 7,000 acres of the Blue Hills Reservation. But you’ll be able to marvel at views of the massive reservation from the peak of Great Blue Hill!
The trail is three miles long and gains about 800 feet in elevation. It’s a loop trail, which means you’ll eventually wind up right back where you started.
The views at the top are simply awesome. You’ll be able to see the Boston skyline, as well as the misty blue mountains that give the reservation its name.
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes or boots, as sections of the trail are a bit rocky. Depending on your hiking experience level, you may want to bring some poles for extra stability. But they’re definitely not required!
You can visit the Skyline Trail’s AllTrails listing for more information about this hike, including a detailed map of the route and reviews by other hikers. The best time to tackle this trail is between April and October, but it’s enjoyable in any season!
