I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
If you’re a fan of Dr. Seuss, you must take a trip to the Springfield Museums where you’ll find a whimsical storybook place in Massachusetts. From the pages out of books like The Lorax, Horton Hears a Who, and The Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss’s characters are brought to life at the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden.
Springfield Museums is a complex that's home to several museums, including a science museum, an art museum, a history museum, and The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum.
The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden was first opened in 2002 to honor Theodore Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. "Dr. Seuss," who was born in Springfield.
Found within the Springfield Museums' quadrangle, you can take a stroll around the garden. Here you'll find sculptures of some of your favorite characters taken right out of the pages of many beloved Dr. Seuss books.
In all, there are over 30 bronze sculptures scattered throughout the park. They were created by artist and stepdaughter to Theodore Geisel, Lark Grey Dimond-Cates.
Discover your favorite characters around the garden like the Cat in the Hat, Yertle the Turtle, The Grinch, and many more! There is even a sculpture of Dr. Seuss himself.
