Over 200 years of history, to be exact. Ledger is an upscale yet casual restaurant housed in the old Salem Savings Bank, originally built in 1818.
The dining room still bears witness to the building’s past – high ceilings, exposed brick, and a general atmosphere of grandeur testify to the restaurant’s moneyed roots.
The old bank vault has even been converted to a walk-in refrigerator.
Of course, the restaurant's decor is matched by its menu.
The menu here is packed with incredible fare like a wood-fired 32-ounce steak with herb sauce and a spit-roasted whole chicken with potatoes and gravy.
Not looking for a full meal? There are plenty of small plates to nibble and share.
The desserts look like a million bucks, too. Enjoy chocolate fluffernutter layer cake, classic bread pudding, and housemate ice creams and sorbets.
