I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
It’s not often we get the privilege of staying somewhere so historic, especially a place with water views. However, if you’re looking for quaint waterfront cottages in Massachusetts to spend a relaxing week, Smith Heights Cottages should be at the top of your list.
Smith Heights Cottages is located just off of Route 6 in Eastham. Set far enough from the highway, you'll feel worlds away.
Situated on five secluded acres overlooking Eastham's Town Cove, Smith Heights Cottages provides a quiet escape during the summer months. The property has been in the same family since the cottages were originally built and rented out in the early 1900s.
Back when the cottages were built, there were seven. Today, just three cottages remain. each one named after a family that originally vacationed here over the years.
Inside the McKechnie cottage, you'll find three bedrooms, one bathroom, a full kitchen, a living room area, and a porch overlooking the cove. Two of the bedrooms have two twin beds and the third bedroom has a queen.
Named after Fred Gooch who spent his summers here in the 1900s through 1920s, this cottage also has three bedrooms. One has a queen, the second has a full, and the third bedroom has two twin beds. Additionally, you'll find a fully-equipped kitchen, a pantry, and a wrap-around screened porch.
With three bedrooms containing a total of four beds, a full kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, and a screened-in porch, the Williams Cottage is the smaller of the three. But it is no less charming!
Wouldn't you love to spend time sitting on your own private porch looking at this view? Between the history and the views, a stay at Smith Heights Cottages is one-of-a-kind.
