I love to travel, but some days I just want to relax and spend a peaceful day with my family. When we want to enjoy a quiet day outside, we often head to one of Massachusetts’ fantastic local parks. Our favorites include Stage Fort Park in Gloucester and Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield. These outdoor spots have lots of activities for everyone in our family to enjoy. Cushing Memorial Park in Framingham is another great place to spend a relaxing day.
Cushing Memorial Park is such a beautiful hidden gem. Located on 57 acres of land, this local spot has so much to offer. The park is wonderfully well-maintained and usually not very crowded.
Cushing Memorial Park is built on the former site of a World War II Army Hospital. Approximately 14,000 soldiers received care here during the war. The park is named after a neurosurgeon, Dr. Harvey Cushing.
There is a war memorial on site as well as several plaques that you can read to learn about the history of the site and the war.
The park additionally has a memorial dedicated to the 17 people from Framingham who lost their lives on 9/11. There are also 17 trees planted in their honor.
