Nothing says fall like a good ole county fair. I’m talking about farm animals, performances, rides, and neverending fair food. What’s not to enjoy? This fall, there are several county fairs taking place all across Massachusetts. While all of these have something unique to offer, my favorite one is the Topsfield Fair which takes place every year in the little town of Topsfield, Massachusetts.
The Topsfield Fair dates back to 1818. It is one of the state's (and country’s) oldest agricultural fairs. For locals and fans, a trip to the fair is an annual autumn tradition.
Starship, Clay Walker, and The Drifters are a few of the musical acts that will be performing at the fair

If you bring the family, the kids will likely want to go on some rides. The fair attractions range from kiddy to high-speed thrill rides. There are also several fair games that you can play.
Although most of my favorite fair food choices aren’t always the healthiest options, they are just so delicious. Some of the food that will be featured at this year’s fair includes apple crisp, deep-fried Oreos, and chocolate-covered bacon. You can also get a Thanksgiving sandwich called “the Gobbler,” and traditional fair favorites like popcorn and caramel apples. There is also a beer garden where you can enjoy a drink if you get thirsty!

If you are looking for a quintessential New England Fair, the Topsfield Fair is a top choice! This historic agricultural fair dates back to 1818. Enjoy parades, performances, fair food, live music, animal shows, exhibits, rides, and games. The highlight of the fair is the annual pumpkin weigh-in, where farmers compete to see who has grown the biggest pumpkin. The fair takes place in Topsfield from September 29 to October 9. Find out more about the schedule of events at the Topsfield Fair website.
There are also several parades taking place where you can watch some cool performances and maybe even catch some free swag.
Each day of the fair features a different schedule of activities, so you will want to check the Topsfield Fair’s official website and Topsfield Fair’s Facebook page before you go. There is also information about parking and admission on these pages.
Have you ever attended the Topsfield Fair? What did you enjoy most about the experience? While you are in Topsfield, you may also want to visit the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary and Bradley Palmer State Park. If you are planning to look festive at the fair, I suggest checking out these cute fair t-shirts on Etsy.
