Massachusetts was one of the first states in the nation, so it’s no surprise that this state is crammed with historical spots and old stuff. But I bet you didn’t know that the oldest place in the state is actually explorable and makes for a great afternoon trip. Check it out below.
The Fairbanks House isn’t just the oldest building in Massachusetts – it’s the oldest surviving wooden structure in the whole of North America.
They even hold a yearly fall festival where you can meet a Civil War troop, see demonstrations of weaving, spinning, pottery-making and tin-smithing, meet live alpacas and play historic games.
The Fairbanks House is open from May to October. You can find it at 511 East Street, Dedham, Mass. Click here to visit their website. If you love history, be sure to read about the most fascinating museum in Massachusetts you’ve never visited here.
