You’ll find the oldest ice cream shop in the state less than a mile from the beach in Centerville, Massachusetts. Four Seas first opened in 1934 and has been churning out delicious frozen treats ever since. In addition to the standard cups and cones, this tiny shop offers an ice cream sundae challenge that will have you drooling.
This award-winning ice cream shop first opened 84 years ago in 1934. It’s been named one of the top 10 ice cream shops in the country by multiple publications, including USA Today. Four Seas is actually housed in an old blacksmith shop and serves a great combo of old-fashioned flavors and unique delights. However, one of their coolest offerings is a monster sundae called the Hurricane.
This massive sundae is comprised of 16 scoops of ice cream, two brownies and two bananas. On top of all that, you’ll also have to put away four maraschino cherries, hot fudge, a hefty dose of whipped cream, and your choice of three other toppings.
If you can eat the entire thing in 30 minutes or less, you get the sundae for free. You’ll also take home a free t-shirt and commemorative plaque? If you don’t finish the entire bowl, you’ll have to pay $55 for the pleasure of attempting the challenge.
Not many people complete the challenge. In fact, some employees have never seen a single victory over the Hurricane. If you don’t feel like attempting to gobble up enough ice cream for a whole family, you can grab a cup or cone of your favorite variety to enjoy at your own pace. Try flavors like fresh peach, old-fashioned brown sugar, black raspberry, and grape nut pudding. People also go wild over rum and butter, lemon crisp, caramel, and chocolate almond.
This one-of-a-kind ice cream shop is the perfect place to put your sweet tooth and stomach to the test.
