Everyone who calls Massachusetts home will argue with you to the end of time that we’re the best state. Not only that, but the way we do things is completely normal. However, if you stray from the Bay State, you might realize that not everyone acts quite like a Bay Stater. From food habits to weather reactions, and even the way we speak, people that aren’t from Massachusetts might think we’re a bit odd. If you have these 11 odd habits, it’s safe to say that you’re at home in Massachusetts.
1. Asking for “the regular” even when you’re not at Dunkin’.
First of all, it’s chowdah. Secondly, don’t you dare put tomatoes in it. Lastly, we’ll take our rich and creamy New England chowdah in a bread bowl, please.
Bay Staters are both classy and quick. There’s no better way to enjoy lobster than having a true Massachusetts lobster roll with a side of fries, Cape Cod chips, or fried clams.
5. Putting marshmallow fluff on your peanut butter sandwiches.
Marshmallow fluff was actually invented in Massachusetts, so it’s no wonder we all grew up eating these odd sandwiches. Fluffernutters are a Massachusetts favorite and it's probably your favorite dessert. Fluff and peanut butter go together better than jelly.
Everyone that calls Massachusetts home surely has dozens of fall foliage pics on their Instagram, but it’s understandable. Since our state is so cold for most of the year, we embrace fall to the fullest—even if it means going out of our way for it.
People who call Massachusetts home might have some “odd” habits, but we think it makes us all the more lovable. Do you have some odd habits from living in Massachusetts? We’d love to hear about your thoughts in the comments!
Are you still unsure if you’re a true Bay Stater? Well, if you don’t eat Massachusetts’ most famous dish, you better fix that!
