I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
With a population of approximately 6,000 residents, Lee is a quintessential small town in the Berkshires. Its charming Center Street is home to several small, local businesses including Joe’s Diner. This small-town diner in Massachusetts is so old-fashioned it doesn’t even have a website or a Facebook page, for that matter. But with delicious food and its history, Joe’s Diner is a must-visit eatery in Lee.
Joe's Diner first opened its door on Main Street in Lee, Massachusetts in 1955. It quickly became a go-to eatery for area locals.
This old-fashioned eatery was used as the backdrop for Norman Rockwell's famous painting, "The Runaway." It was featured on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post in 1958 and a copy of it hangs inside Joe's Diner.
Step inside Joe's and it's like entering through the doors of a different era. Take a seat at one of the countertop stools or at a table and place your order.
While the menu items are served in fairly large portions, the prices are quite reasonable. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served and there are quite a few daily specials to choose from as well.
As for lunch and dinner, how about a sandwich, burger, hot dog, fish and chips, or any other number of items? And save room for dessert, especially a slice of pie!
Have you ever stopped at this small-town diner in Massachusetts? If you have, what did you think? Please share your thoughts on Joe’s Diner in the comments.
