I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As we gear up for the upcoming holidays, there are numerous festivals and light exhibits that can put you in the holiday spirit. But one, in particular, is unlike anything you’ve experienced before. The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home has been transformed into a winter wonderland with an extraordinary light and sound experience set against the backdrop of the author’s stately mansion. This may be one of the best displays of holiday lights in Massachusetts this season.
The Mount was the home of notable American author Edith Wharton who wrote "The Age of Innocence," among other novels. She lived here from 1902 until 1911 and the estate became a National Historic Landmark in 1971.
This holiday season, the property of The Mount has been transformed into a mystifying landscape of light and music. Take a stroll through theatrical displays in a transformative experience you won't get elsewhere.
Among the scenes are The Woods, The Eternal City, The Courtyard, The Winter Garden, The Lane, The Glade, and The Conference of Trees. Each one is as mystifying as the next.
Visitors will stroll along a set of pathways through the woods and gardens for about 3/4 of a mile. Pathways are a mix of paved and unpaved areas with small inclines and stairways throughout.
Due to the varied terrain of the paths, accessibility is limited.
The spellbinding NightWood event will be held Thursday through Sunday evenings from November 4 through December 31, 2021. The event will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. If you plan to attend, reserve your tickets as soon as possible before they sell out.
Do you have plans to attend Nightwood: An Outdoor Sound and Light Experience at The Mount? It will surely be one of the best displays of holiday lights in Massachusetts this year.
