If you’ve visited Nantucket Island in December in the past, you understand that this charming Massachusetts town becomes a winter wonderland every year. Though many holiday events are canceled in 2020, Nantucket is still decked to the nines and waiting to be seen. We may have to social distance, but we can still walk through this enchanting Christmas town and support the small businesses within it. Let’s reflect on Christmastime in Nantucket from the past, and see how we can still celebrate this winter wonderland this year.
Every year during the holiday season, the beautiful town of Nantucket on Nantucket Island transforms into a Christmas winter wonderland.
The Christmas Stroll was invented in 1973 to try and keep Nantucket residents from doing their shopping in Cape Cod. This local event always starts with a tree lighting and caroling.
Throughout the years, this holiday event grew into a three-hour shopping extravaganza, and has been internationally recognized. People from Cape Cod now come to Nantucket to do their holiday shopping.
In lieu of a Christmas Stroll, there's an initiative to support local businesses called Nantucket Noel. Until December 31st, 2020, small businesses will have specials so you can shop virtually.
Christmas might look different in Nantucket this year, but this charming town is still overflowing with holiday spirit. Support small businesses at the Nantucket Noel, and hopefully next year we can gather for the Christmas Stroll once again.
