In case you’ve been living under a sad, beer-less rock for the past few years, craft brewing has become something of a big deal lately. With microbreweries popping up all over the place, distinguishing the good from the bad is tricky.
Bay State beer aficionados probably already know this, but one of the best breweries in the world is actually right here in Massachusetts. Trillium Brewing Company beat out thousands of other breweries across the world in RateBeer’s latest global roundup.
Trillium Brewing Company was just awarded the coveted title of third best brewery in the world by RateBeer.
This is actually the brewery’s second year at the #3 spot, so you know they’re not resting on their laurels.
This is a big deal because RateBeer is community-driven. Real beer-drinkers from around the globe – not a few "experts" – have proclaimed Trillium’s brews the best around.
Six of the top ten breweries on the globe are located in America, and the number one spot went to Hill Farmstead Brewery in Vermont, another New England venture.
Think American wild ales aged with raspberries and plums, oatmeal porters with cold-brewed coffee and double IPAs with notes of lychee and grape juice.

Their Canton taproom lets you settle in with a cold pint in one of two tasting rooms and observe the production floor beneath. They don’t sell food, so you’re welcome to bring your own!
Trillium has locations in Fort Point (Boston), Roslindale (Boston) and Canton. The Fort Point location is retail-only, while the Roslindale and Canton spots offer drinking areas. Click here to find the closest Trillium location to you and learn more about this brewery.
