There are so many wonderful hiking trails to experience around the state. From waterfall hikes to beach hikes, hikes to ruins, and a hike to a gorge, we can spend hours upon hours exploring the great outdoors. And if you want to take a pretty epic hike, you can see rock formations in Essex, Massachusetts along two short trails that, together, are a half-mile.

The Monoliths is a 146-acre preserve located in Essex close to Manchester-by-the-Sea. It is overseen by The Trustees of Reservations.

Located on the property are four main trails, all of which are under one mile. The Yellow Trail is 0.2 miles and it leads to the Red Trail which is 0.3 miles long.

From the parking lot, take the Yellow Trail to the Red Trail where you'll discover two impressive rock formations. The trail system is moderately difficult and will take approximately 20 minutes to hike.
