I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Winter may be frigid and bone-chilling, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend the entire season indoors. In fact, there is plenty of fun to be had outdoors all season long! One fun event, an ice festival in Massachusetts, will have you oohing and aahing over what some talented artists will produce in the streets of Northampton this winter. The annual Northampton Ice Art Festival will happen in January and you won’t want to miss it.
Located in Hampton County, Northampton is a city of 30,000 people. It's known as a college town as well as a hub of art and culture in Western Mass.
This winter, on January 21, 2023, the city will host its 12th Annual Northampton Ice Art Festival. Held downtown, this is an event that locals and tourists alike look forward to each year.
Artists are invited to the festival to create one-of-a-kind works of art using ice as a medium. During this family-friendly event, spectators can watch as these talented ice artists create ice sculptures right before their eyes.
It's amazing to see what the artists come up with. Remember to take plenty of photos while you're at the festival as these ice sculptures (unfortunately) won't last forever.
The ice carving will commence at the beginning of the festival's first day and continue on throughout the day. You'll have plenty of opportunities to watch the artists at work.
