Have your date nights gotten a little boring? Or maybe you are just looking for a unique night out with friends. For something a little different, why not try a bonsai workshop? Participating in the art of shaping tiny trees is even more fun when paired with a fantastic beer. You can now enjoy both at The Mighty Squirrel Co. in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Last fall, my husband and I decided to take a quick day trip to the city of Waltham. We hiked scenic Prospect Hill and loaded up on gigantic pumpkin french toast at In A Pickle Restaurant. We ended our trip by stopping by The Mighty Squirrel Brewing Company for a refreshing brew.

We had been fans of Mighty Squirrel beer for some time and were thoroughly impressed by the brewery. There were a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options, a coffee area, and even a local food truck.

The brewery is set up so that guests can directly view the brewing process while enjoying one of Mighty Squirrel’s delicious beers. On this particular day, we were able to watch the canning and labeling process.
That’s right, you can gather with friends and enjoy a pint of Mighty Squirrel while learning the art of bonsai from an expert instructor from the Bonsai Bar School. Pruning, potting, and other fundamental concepts are taught in this fun environment.
When you are finished with the workshop, you will have a beautiful bonsai to bring home with you. If your tree remains strong and healthy, you can bring it back to the bar for an advanced workshop on repotting. And if your bonsai is not so lucky and meets its demise, it can be replaced free of charge.
Have you ever tried the Japanese art of bonsai? How did your tree turn out? For more information about this fun bonsai event, please visit the Mighty Squirrel Brewing Co. website and the Mighty Squirrel Brewing Co. Facebook page.
